A true haven in the madness that is the meatpacking district, that’s how I remember Julie Skinner’s gorgeous showroom on 14th street. That’s why I was so very sad to find out she’s packing up for the sunny city of Beverly Hills; which promted me to post this as kind of a farewell, but definitely not a goodbye. Her collection of vintage ranging from blouses, skirts, dresses and jewelry to amazing 20′s headpieces and guitar cases, like the Moschino one pictured above, is seriously spectacular. The first time I visited her space I felt like a kid in a candy store, and Julie couldn’t have been more friendly, her passion and knowledge of vintage designers and history is impressive and contagious to say the least. She even let me borrow the Chanel dress above for fashion week, which was a complete dream ( I really felt like the belle of the ball). The best part of her growing assortment is that she has just as many pieces accessible to the novice collector as the vintage professional. The good news is many of her pieces are available on 1stdibs, though I will definitely be scheduling a visit with her on my next trip to L.A.

Lucky girl! I can picture you in that dress. I’m sure you looked beautiful. Speaking of beautiful…that minaudiere!
