Momo-what?

This past weekend we finally made it to the Asian market, which is a serious gem, full of dumplings of all kinds, spices and noodles..I could have spent hours there and will most definitely be back! We were on a mission for the buns used in Momofuku’s pork buns for our caterer to use at the wedding. I may have yelped in joy upon finding them, seriously. So we decided to try out the recipe at home. It was a big hit! The only note I would make is after brining overnight make sure to wash off the salt/sugar mixture, it ended up a little too salty, but we were so excited to know we don’t have to travel three hours for this very coveted dish anymore.

Did you find the buns at the store? If so, what were they called on the package?

They look great. And you can fill them with most anything. Fried Oysters, Lettuce, and Sriracha Mayo was always a big hit at Momo Noodle Bar.

sure did! its a pretty small store but was packed full of tons of things so it took a few minutes to finally find the right ones. i’ll email you a photo, not sure how to attach it here. they were called lotus leaf steamed buns. Also got the rice cakes to make the spicy pork/rice cake dish at Momo…excited for that one!

Jelly! Momo’s pork buns are the most fantastic, mouthwatering things I’ve ever eaten… but, of course I can’t get them in the central Illinois corn fields :-( BUT thanks for the recipe. I know what I’m going to be doing this weekend!
